New Blog Design and Recipe Swap Linky Party
I am absolutely flying on cloud 9. If you haven't noticed, this is a new blog design for me. I caught the blog fever from Brandi over at My Teacher Friend when she redesigned her blog at the beginning of the week. So, what was a person supposed to do other than check out Megan's blog templates at her awesome site: A Bird In Hand Designs.
I've got to tell you that when I started this whole blog thing and I didn't know what I was doing, my original intent was to have a hot air balloon as my theme. But, I had no idea how to go about that. Then I discovered a free blog template that sufficed, but I was never completely happy with the butterfly theme.
When I hopped on over to Megan's site and saw this hot air balloon template, I knew that it was meant for me. I emailed her right away and she was quick to respond. I started this all on Thursday and by Saturday night, I had my new blog design. Thanks Megan for making this so easy, painless, beautiful and not that expensive!!!!
Now onto this next idea of mine. Have you ever sat around the table in the teacher's lounge or at a friend's house and heard them talk about a great, easy-to-make recipe and you thought, "I've got to have that"? It happens to me quite a bit, but I never end up getting the recipe. Either I forget, or my friend forgets and we all know that we need those time-saving recipes with our hectic schedules, right?
So, I thought, why not have a teacher recipe swap?? We all have those tried and true recipes that, when in a pinch, we pull out because we need to. Well, why not share them with each other??
That is why I am going to attempt my first linky party. I know it doesn't really relate to teaching, but we all have to figure out ways to put food on the tables at our house and we would like it to be healthier than fast food all the time!!
If you are interested in joining me, here is the button to use on your blog so we can all link up here!! (I'm sorry, but I am not sure how to add the code for this button, so you can just save the picture on your computer, but it on your blog and then link it back to this page)
Now, here is the best part of this: the recipe. I have to say, that this is not my recipe, but it's one that I found on pinterest HERE. It is a family favorite, is is easy to make and the best part is that it goes in the Crockpot in the morning and it is ready when I get home from work. Imagine that?? After a totally hectic day, you get to come home and dinner is already ready!!!
Crock Pot Cream Cheese Chicken Chili
I know the picture doesn't make it look that great, but believe me, it is one of the best dinners I've ever made.
2 chicken breasts, still frozen
1 can Rotel tomatoes
1 can corn kernels, do not drain
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 pkg. Ranch dressing mix
1 T cumin
1 t chili powder
1 t onion powder
1 8-oz pkg. cream cheese
This actual recipe only feeds about 2 people, so I usually double it for my family of 4. It's super easy. All you have to do is put this all in the crockpot in the morning, turn it on low, and let it cook for about 8 hours. You can see the full set of directions if you click on the link above.
It would be really neat if we could all swap recipes, so here is the place to do that!!
